The wedding at the age of 60 - The groom and The Bride are same

I was watching this movie 27 dresses, and something just striked me to write about weddings.
If you are from southern part of India, you would have definitely heard about 'shashtiyapoorthi' which is a Tamil word to represent the marriage which happens when the groom turns to the age 60.
Recently I attended the 60th marriage of my aunt and uncle at a famous temple named thirukadaiyur which is located at tamilnadu(India).



It's a beautiful ritual function where it happens for two days. The relatives of groom and the bride's are invited for the function to bless as well as receive blessings from them.
The previous day evening of the function, priest in the temple will arrange for the Pooja and the homa which is called as ritual. Many couple come to that temple and perform their 60th marriage. So this temple has planned a beautiful space for performing this marriage and rituals.
Priest will explain us why are we doing this homa(a Sanskrit word for ritual) step by step and he makes us understand all the mantras recited by them.

In my aunt and uncle marriage, we had three priest performing the ceremony. They had this homa space where they have pure ghee bowl and with lots of ayurvedic herbs to be put on the homa space which is filled with tiny woods and they fire it intially with camphor and start the mantras.
They have each separate plates of different herbs like roots, elaichi etc.. they ask the relatives to sit as a circle and start to pass the herbs plate to each one and then reach the couple and then they put it on the homa space which is now on fire. its like parcing the parcel and we enjoy it.

After all the plates are done they perform the main Pooja and ask everyone to perform namaskaram(bending the complete body as a respect to god) for more than 16 times.
After this the couple are asked to go around the temple to pray the gods. The main god in the temple is Lord Shiva and Goddess Abirami.

Next day early morning we all went to the temple again for the main ceremony for the couple to tie the knot which is called mangalsutra which is performed in almost all Indian Hindu weddings.

But now they have so many pots filler of water which is decorated with mango leaves and a coconut on the top of the pots. Everyone is asked to pour the water on the couple as a ritual. After this the couple is given new dresses and with garlands asked to come for performing the main ceremony.

With music's like tabla etc, the couple gets married. The groom tied the mangalsutra which is made up of a yellow thick thread with a gold symbol around the brides neck and everyone around them blesses them with flowers.
Again the couple go around the temple and seeks blessings from the Lord Shiva and the goddess Abirami.

My uncle and Aunt is married for more than 30 years with a daughter and son. It's a practise that the children should conduct this function for their parents and get their blessings.

This same ritual is performed for the couple when the groom turns to 80 which is called sathabhishega  and next will be when the groom turns to 100 which is called poorna abhishekam.

Hey all it's been quiet a long time I connected with you all.. that's because of my maternity break.
So now I would like to take a interesting topic.
Don't you all think that the fashion which emerges now has got a control over us. Like we are forced to choose what the designers make. Yes we are. For I know a very famous brand of Kurtis ( A dress kind) and I find almost lot of them wearing the same wherever I go and the first thing I did was I stopped buying from that brand.yes I did that ! I stopped ! So I was thinking what's next am I going to get trapped by what the brand asks me to wear or the design which I need I imagine I always dwell about. Well I can understand that what other options we have ?? Like can we ask the manufacturer to design a single dress only for us ? Is that even possible ??? Hmm probably no will be the answer .... So how to come out of these branded designs control over us. Just now go to the local market get one or two dresses or tops of what you like but make sure the local market or the shop you would choose is not of that famous. Now you find a top of your style and just wear and let me know with your pic like what you wore and what kind of compliments you got. This is how you can come out of this branded control. FabIndia Tea Tree Face Wash Review

Hey Beauties !!

Recent times I got some pimples in my chin which were painful and I got it due to hot weather and ofcourse they left their marks when gone. I was searching for a facewash which cures the blemishes and found this in fabindia claiming that it reduces acne and pimples. 

Description :

An antiseptic face wash ideal for oily skin, containing tea tree oil and turmeric extract. Daily use removes excess sebum reducing acne and pimples. 120 ml.

Price : 185 INR
Ingredients: Purified Water, Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate, Cocoamidopropylbetaine, Sodium Chloride, Tea Tree Oil, Salicylic Acid, Guar Gum, Turmeric Extract, Citric Acid.

My Take on the Product (Fabindia Tea Tree face wash) : 

The face wash is a transparent gel in light green color and had a very mild smell and the smell did not disturb much. While cleansing it removes away all the dirt from your face and leave it fresh and clean. The main thing is it does make your face moisturized (I have a combination skin). This face wash does not give you a magic brightening effect but makes your face squeaky clean and when you touch your face you feel them soft. 

Coming to the pimple part, shockingly I got a small pimple next day but then that was the last one which i got, afterwards with regular use my acne stopped and I am happy to say that the blemish marks have reduced so well. I would not say it has gone 100% but 80% of the marks are gone now and am using this for a month. Girls if you have so much dry skin the moisturizing level will be low and you should use a moisturizer after the wash. 

Pros : 

Makes your face so clean and fresh.
Removes Eyeliner easily 
Blemishes are reduced well
Stops Acne to an extent 
Reasonably priced

Cons : 

You may get pimples initially based on skin type.
For dry skinned beauties, following up with moisturizer is required.
Has Sodium Lauryl Sulphate :-(

Overall, I am in love with this fabindia teatree facewash and would defintely recommend it to all.

Three Quick Tips to get Beautiful Glossy Hair on your hairwash day

Hey Beauties !!! We all love our hair and we want our hair to look gorgeous. Frizz and dull looking hair are our sure enemies which we never want it. I don't usually prefer to go to parlors to maintain my hair. So defintely as a alternative measure I follow few easy and quick methods to make my hair look fuller, glossier and frizz free. Before I was using Muskroot pack from Biotique and that always made my hair look descent. But found it to be bit on expensive side (Still lesser than parlor treatment) and wanted to shift to pure natural ingredients. I wanted to share those with all of you ladies.

Aloe Vera Pack : 

Aloevera has a soothing property and a natural frizz control for our hair. This is what you have to do before your shampooing and this is just for 10 to 15 minutes.

Aloevera (Fresh Gel)
A few drops of Oil (Any oil say coconut oil)

Take the white part of Aloe vera gel and mix it with oil and apply all over your hair and give a nice massage. Follow with your regular shampoo and dry your hair. This will enhance the look of your hair and gives you a soft glossy look.

 Curry Leaves Pack :

Do you know consuming curry leaves gives you a darker and stronger hair. Apply this pack for 15 minutes before shampooing.

Fresh curry leaves - 1 Cup
Curd - Half cup

Grind the curryleaves with little water and mix it with curd. Curd will make your hair softer. Now apply this pack overall and wash it off after 15 - 20 minutes, Trust me this will help you for a darker and stronger hair. This helps for hair growth also.

Hibiscus Leaves Pack :

I am sure that you all will love this pack. This hair pack my grandmother use to prepare me while i was doing my schooling. My sundays will start with this pack. After using this pack and drying the hair it feels like you are touching a birds feather as the hair becomes so tender soft.

Hibiscus Leaves - 10 to 15
Egg - 1 no
Milk - 1/4 cup

Grind the hibiscus leaves with little water and mix it with egg and milk. As you are applying egg you might feel the egg smell to be stronger. In this case you can use a little drops of essential oil. Or you can skip egg and just replace it with curd.  Apply this for 30 minutes atleast to get softer hair.

Hey beauties !!! We always plan well ahead for a function, parties but are we really executing them perfect ?? Some say yes we do and some like we don't get the best outcome...
 No worries !! Here are some simple do's and don'ts when you plan for a party...

Do's and Don'ts :

• Decide on your hairstyle before a week for the party and try it out on your hair how it suits you because when we do them in last minute am sure there we would be so busy getting ready and we may not get it right when we need. 
• If you are opting for curls or waves or straightening there are few things to note. If you are doing waves go for heatless by setting your hair over night( There are lot of methods to set waves without heat). Sleep well and morning you could see your beautiful waves. If you need defined curls then start curling your hair before your makeup because if you are rolling your curls and using Barbie pins to safe it; you can give it sometime to set it until you are done with makeup.
• Use always a hair spray to set your hair after you are done because it definitely helps them to stay longer. You can opt for a texturizing spray to give you a best finish. Do not apply serum after you are done with setting your hairstyle. If required apply your serum before you start any styling with your hair. 
• Definitely apply a heat protectant spray Before you use any curling or straightening or hairdryer else it might make your hair look dull.
• Now next is your makeup. Do not try any new creams or foundation on the day of your party. Use only the products that you comfortable so far. Because sometimes when you try something new it might make you look darker or cakey. 
• Dark skinned beauties if you apply kajal in your lower lashes chances are high that might make you look darker so better try applying kajal previously for the same makeup and check how well it goes with your dress.
• Do never forget to apply some shimmering bronzer on your hands and on your back neck because they are more important spots too.
• Always choose your lipstick and eyeshadow which enhances each other and does not oppose.
• It's a common mistake to apply lipstick so bright that it just pops only our lips to others and not our complete makeover so choose a shade which goes with your makeup. After applying lipstick just use a tissue paper and give a kiss to the paper.
• Have lot of Barbie pins with you so you can help your hair stay on place if it comes out suddenly.
• Now coming to the legs if you are wearing a short dress then do moisturizes your legs very well and apply a very light body shimmer to it. 
• Have always a trendy bag with you to complete the look. Tan colored bags can go with any dresses so definitely have one. 
• Keep your nails so clean if you are skipping your nail polish. Else apply a nail polish which is in skin color or which goes along with your dress.
•  Have a makeup setting spray to set your makeup. But do note it does not make your face looks oily or so matte. Choose according to your skin type.
• Have compact powder with you during the party so if you sweat or if you feel bit tired just go to the restroom and do a touch up.

How to get Fairer Underarms ??

Yes !! We accept that our underarms are so important to us when we go sleeveless !! Only when we shave them we find them so darker. Here are some natural & easy tips which would definitely make your underarms fairer when you follow them regularly. Yes you do need some patience to get them fair :) :) :)

• Mix Oats and honey : Apply this mixture as a scrub in your underarms for five minutes and wash it with cold water, Regular use of this will make your underarms looks fair and improves the darker skin.

• Milky Time : Apply skim of milk with a very few drops of lemon and olive oil. Massage this in your underarms and wash if off with your regular soap (A moisturizing one !! ) 

• Orange pack : This one you can either prepare at home by drying the skin of orange or buy any orange powder pack from shop. Use this two days once in your underarms to get rid of darker under arms. 

• Awwww Tamarind : Apply a tamarind based body polisher. This ooes wonders for darker underarms. You can find them in forest essentials range.

• Coconut milk : Coconut milk together with cucumber will make it look fairer

Few more tips to avoid darker underarms :

• I understand that all of us are so busy running to office and working at home which makes us use razor for underarms. Kindly avoid it. 
• Use a moisturizing soap for your underarms not the ones which removes natural oils from skin. 
• Do not directly spray your deodorant on your underarms. Definitely this will make the skin look darker. 

To instantly make your underarms lighter apply any pack you use for your face for few minutes and wipe it with warm towel followed by splash of cold water.

How to makehair oil at home - A solution to no grey hair, no hair loss, thicker and stronger hair

Hello Beauties !! Hair oil is very important for all of us to provide nourishment. My mom is 53 years and still hair is all naturally black in color and she has got only two strands of grey hair and nothing else till now (Touch wood). Her gene may be one of the reason but i should say the hair oily prepared by her for us both is the main reason. One more thing is my mom never used shampoo and she sticks only with shikakai which is a natural cleanser. I would love to share this hair oil recipe with all of you.

Things Required : 

Coconut Oil - 1/2 Litre
Curry Leaves - 25 Leaves
Dwarf copperleaf - 1 bunch  It's called ponnanganni keerai in Tamil, ponnangantikura in Telugu, ponnankannikira in Malayalam, Garundi in Hindi, sesiile joyweed/dwarf copperleaf in English!)
Hibiscus Leaves - 10 Leaves (The usual red hibiscus leaves)

Method :

Grind the Curry Leaves, Dwarf Copper Leaves, Hibiscus Leaves together in Mixie. Add them all in coconut oil in a wide vessel and place it on the stove. Do not boil it, let it simmer and continue with your works. After sometime (An hour) the waste(sediment) and the oil will get separated. Filter it and leave it for sometime. You can start to use this from the next day.

Benefits :

• You would not get grey hair that easy with continuous application of this oil
• Prevents hair loss
• Makes hair thicker and stronger
• Enhances new hair growth from the root
• Great for colored and damaged hair

Best ways to maintain a oily skin and Packs for oily skin

Hello Beauties !! Our skin always reacts to change in weather and we buy different moisturizers and creams according to the changes. Today let me explain you about the oily skin and what are the right packs for them.
Oily skin might look beautiful and gets aged a little slower than a dry skin and wrinkles do not appear that easily for oily skinned beauty. Here are few tips on how to maintain the oily skin.

• Mix a tea spoon of egg white and few drops of lemon juice. Apply it on your face and neck for fifteen minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water. 

• Mix few drops of lemon juice with a nicely ripped banana. Apply it on your face and neck for fifteen minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water

• Mix a tea spoon of honey, orange juice, rose water along with multani matti. Let it be on your face and neck until it gets dried well. Wash it off with lukewarm water. 

• Mix few drops of lemon juice with nicely ripped papaya fruit. Apply this pack to get rid of pimples as well its effective for oily skin.

• Oily skin is the source of pimple as your pores might be clogged by the oiliness hence you can grind fresh tulsi and neem leaves and mix it along with sandal powder to make a paste. This is great for acne reduction.

• Size of pores will be larger for oily skinned beauty. A great solution for this problem is the tomato pack. Mix a tea spoon of tomato juice with few drops of lemon juice and apply it on your face and neck. You might have tingling sensation as its working on your face. 

• You can also try a cucumber pack for oily skin. As we all know cucumber refreshes the skin. Mix a 4 tea spoon of cucumber juice with honey and lemon. Apply this on your face for sometime. Gently massage before you wash it off from your face. 

Other than the above pack below are few tips to maintain a oily skin !! 

• Oily skin needs a good cleansing everyday. Cleanse your face twice with a face wash for oily skin which should also retains your moisture. 
• To even out a oily skin tone, use a fresh toner after your cleanse. Rose water or sandal toner is best for oily skin.
• Hydrating cream is necessary for oily skin. There are hydrating gels and creams available and use a little to keep up good hydration for your skin.
• If you would want to wear a makeup, then definitely choose foundation which will not clog your pores. Generally liquid foundation is good for oily skin as it will not clog your pores. 
• Do not use cream blush for oily skin especially during summer. Its better to use powder blush for oily skin. Same way its good to use powder based eye shadow than opting for creamy eye shadow.
• Your T-ZONE will look more oily hence concentrate on that part while you apply your makeup. For this, have a oil bottling paper with you so whenever you feel your t-zone is oily use them.
• Its best to use cold water to rinse a oily skin than using hot water as it lock the moisture within your face.
• Night regime is more important for oily skin. There are night creams for dry skin and oily skin. Choose the one for oily skin and apply them. Its better if you go for natural products because it has natural ingredients as oily skin is more prone to pimples if there are lot of chemicals in your night cream. Before you apply your night cream cleanse and use toner.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF15 Review and swatches

Hello Beauties !! Its Mac and Yes its expensive though but worth it for its quality. I got this Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation a year back along with Mac Studio Fix Compact and Mac Strobe cream. I went to the Mac store in a mall especially to buy the foundation and SA applied on me starting from the primer, foundation, compact, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick lolz.. So i went out of the mall to check the look on me on day light and took at-least 10 snaps in different lighting before i bought them as its expensive and I should be on the right foundation shade and mine matched with NC44.5 though i thought the lesser tone would do for me but SA said me so strong this is my right tone.
Note : Its been more than a year am using this so in the pictures shown the words might not look so bright.

What Mac Says about the Product : 
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation combines a natural matte finish and medium-buildable coverage with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15. Comfortable and long-wearing: lasts for up to eight hours. Applies smoothly, builds coverage quickly and easily. Contains specially treated micronized pigments and soft-focus powders for a super-smooth look that helps minimize the appearance of imperfections. Absorbs and disperses oil and is Oil free.

My Take on the Product : 
Packaging : Here comes the tough thing because there is no pump given to dispense it and you might end up taking a lot more than required. Many times i have wasted and tried again to put the product inside the jar. But there will be no leakage once you have closed it tight.

Smell : The smell is like the usual Mac foundation and it settles down in few minutes after application.
Blend and Coverage : 
So, let me start with how it got blended with my skin. Its a runny liquid foundation and a little foundation is enough to get a mild coverage but you can still layer it to get a full coverage. It covers tiny spots and would not cover up if you have any black flat moles (I have it!!) and for those you have to use concealer. In case of pores, I have very very tiny which is not that visible but that was not covered much on first application but when you opt for full coverage then tiny pores would get covered. However if you have a very dry skin or combination skin tone for sure you have to apply a good moisturizer before applying this because it might show some dry patches. For oily skin you would not find any problem with dry patches by using this. I have some white heads near my chin and tiny black heads on my nose and this seems to get visible even with medium coverage which i don't like. We spending a lot in this foundation and we expect it to cover up those flaws. I would not say you don't need a concealer with this you would need it definitely for more intense colored spots.
Staying Power : The staying power is really great and it stays well for 6 hours for me (Only that long i have tried) without any touch up needed, but you have to set it with compact on top for long stay.
Shade : And coming to the shade, you have to choose the exact shade else it will darken you or show you with different tone which is not yours at all. These NC ranges are neutral yellow tones and is more suitable for Indian skin tones. You have to blend it well to get the right coverage and it gets blended so easily with a simple strokes. This Mac studio fix foundation has a SPF level of 15 which is so good for us if we are going out on sun. On three feet distance from your mirror you might notice the coverage you have got is awesome and your face looks flawless.

Sensitive : 
I have a very sensitive skin tone so i was scared with the list of ingredients (Of-course chemicals). But using this foundation did not break me at all. So its safe on skin.

Pros: 

• Blends well 
• It will lasts for a long 
• Lots of shades to choose from 
• Does not show you ashy at all if you are on right shade
• Covers the spots well 
• Covers you tanned areas
• Staying power is long in both AC and Non Ac environment

Cons :

• Appearance of dry patches if you have dry skin
• A little product forms a outline on pores which takes a extra effort to get it corrected
• Its damn expensive.

Rating : 4/5
Overall I recommend this mac studio fix fluid foundation with SPF 15 for combination to oily skinned beauties because it does not make your oil come out even after 4 hours. For dry skinned beauties apply and check it well in the store if its not showing dry patches.
